ACADEMICS

As a private school for students with academic and social challenges, parents walk through our doors for many reasons.  Parents are focused on the typical pieces of an academic environment but can’t quite put their finger on what will make their child successful.  They want a place for their child to overcome their anxiety and be confident as they approach young adulthood.  We always ask them the same question:

Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.

We believe that in addition to academics, students need a better understanding of their relationship to the world around them. Building a foundation of employment skills prepares them to become meaningful contributors to their community. For that reason, we orient all of our programs around transitioning to adulthood.

Academics
The cornerstone of our program is our strong academic program. Gateway provides a curriculum that follows the Texas recommendations for high school graduation. Teachers meet students at their current academic level and enable them to advance at their own maximum pace.

Our students receive instruction in a small group setting led by our highly qualified learning specialists. Additionally, we equip students with the necessary organization, technology, and executive function skills to develop independence throughout their life. This program enriches our students in the classroom through the development of study skills, in our community through community service projects, and in their daily lives by building a well-defined vision of their future.

Our goal is to give our students the skills to graduate from Gateway Academy with a diploma in hand, ready to tackle post-high school endeavors.

Gateway Difference
In a world where resources are easily accessible and options are abundant, we cannot emphasize the Gateway difference enough. The positive changes that occur in our students go beyond the walls of our facilities, as they develop lifelong skills that result in productive young adults finding their place in this world.
